EXCURSION

A pre-conference excursion will be based in the Oudtshoorn area, Western Cape, and a post-conference workshop will also form part of the meeting. ​

 
Pre-Conference Excursion

Caves, koppies and conservation - desert and karst landscapes of the the Klein Karoo

 

The excursion is a full day guided self-drive through the Swartberg Circuit. The route takes you over the iconic Swartberg Pass to Prince Albert and returns via Meiringspoort, offering spectacular geological and geomorphological features. This
excursion is organised in collaboration with WiSH, an INQUA funded project.

Logistics

The excursion is a self-travel, self-catering (ad)venture. A guide will join you on the day, but you need to make your own travel, accommodation, and food arrangements outside of the packed lunch that is provided as part of the excursion fee.

  • Talks by academics and students.

  • All entrance fees, as applicable, are for the attendees' own pocket.

  • A WhatsApp group for communication purposes will be created later for the excursion.

  • Avoid driving at night due to road conditions (potholes, stray animals, poor visibility, etc.).

  • R130 pp

  • This includes a packed lunch

  • A R 100 colour booklet guide is an as optional extra
