Submit your abstract to ITS2.9/SSS3 Land degradation in savanna environments - assessments, dynamics and implications to be held at the upcoming virtual EGU General Assembly, 19-30 April 2021.
This session is part of the ITS2 chapter on “The role of the Geosciences in the UN Sustainable Development Goals”. It aims to explore the wide range of methodological approaches to assess land degradation, its dynamics over all spatial and temporal scales as well as the implications for society and the interaction with the different spheres of the Earth including the anthroposphere, atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere or the pedosphere. We invite you to submit abstracts that are based on field work, remote sensing approaches or modelling exercises, and/or focus on specific physical and socio-economic aspects of land degradation like land management, land cover change or soil erosion among others and/or discuss land degradation in a broader societal context.
Early career scientists are encouraged to submit their work. The deadline is 13 January 2021 at 13:00 CET.
The EGU 2021 will be held online only, so no travel is required. Regular non-member (EGU or AGU) registration is 180 EUR. See all options at EGU21 - Register. Registration fees are waived for scientists with a permanent affiliation in a low-income (https://data.worldbank.org/income-level/low-income) or lower-middle income countries (https://data.worldbank.org/income-level/lower-middle-income) as well as for PhD candidates from all middle income countries (https://data.worldbank.org/income-level/middle-income) according to the World Bank definition. So this is really a good opportunity for Ph.D. students.
