The University of the Western Cape invites applicants for a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer: Geography, Environmental Studies and Tourism (Faculty of Arts). The Department offers a three-year BA degree, with Geography and Environmental Studies, and/or Tourism, as majors, a BA Honours degree in Geography and Environmental Studies, MA and PhD degrees.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
Competent to facilitate teaching and learning in at least one of the following areas:
Physical Geography;
Human Geography;
Environmental Studies;
and/or Tourism;
Participate in research, publications and supervision;
Contribute to departmental academic administration and community engagement.
Minimum requirements:
As a Senior Lecturer, the minimum requirements are:
A PhD degree in geography or related field;
Proven track record of teaching excellence at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
Experience with postgraduate supervision;
Research outputs and publications in accredited journals; and
As a Lecturer, the minimum requirements are:
A Master’s degree in geography or related field;
Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and supervision in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
